A focused, one-day course covering the core skills most workplaces need from an appointed first aider: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, shock, and treating wounds and minor injuries.
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is the right course for anyone appointed to give emergency first aid in a lower-risk workplace, such as an office, shop or small warehouse, or for anyone with basic first aid responsibility in a voluntary or community setting. Your workplace first aid needs assessment will usually tell you whether EFAW or the fuller First Aid at Work course is the right fit.
EFAW is a single 6-hour day covering the core emergency skills. First Aid at Work is a fuller 3-day, 18-hour course that also covers cardiac events, airway obstruction, head and spinal injuries, fractures, and anaphylaxis. Which one you need depends on your workplace first aid needs assessment, typically EFAW suits lower-risk workplaces and FAW suits higher-risk or larger ones.
Like other Qualsafe first aid qualifications, the EFAW certificate is valid for 3 years, after which a requalification course is needed to keep your certification current.
